The joy of learning to knit.

Standard

As a crocheter knitting seemed like a foreign concept,  why use 2 sticks to do what you can with one hook?   Boy was I wrong.   I can read, write, correct, and resize crochet patterns.  I’m always tinkering with them.

This pattern is great but I resized it.

With knitting I do not have to.  I just cast on I just cast on and go.

October is almost over!

Standard

With Halloween only a few days away,  I find myself very, very unorganized and distracted.   This month has been full.  I filled my deer tag, my D.h. filled his, we still have an elk tag to fill.  One of our beloved dogs passed away,  and just travel back and forth is very outrageously long.  With the weather getting worse and the blues between our house and the work site, it may be my last week up with him til it gets to bad to continue to work.

Also a show has come up for me to do, yes it’s a tiny one one day show at a local venue.  But what could it hurt.

Of course when I’m home I’m faced with this little monster.   Her name is john.  We call her Snow.

And I haven’t started to get the feel for my wheel yet.  It must feel lonely sitting in the office unused.

I also have not filled the stocking as much as I would have liked by now.

That’s all for now, may your Halloween be colorful and safe.

Thought process of designs.

Standard

I can normally visualize a product I would like to make.  A few times I can even write a pattern before I make the item.  Other times I write as I crochet.  This week my goal is to get one ready to test.  This means typing it out, editing, and saving in the correct format.   Not often do I make such a small mistake but sometimes I do.  I am trying to get a fingerless mitt pattern ready to test.  They are similar to my last pair but these ones look slimmer than the bulkiness of the last pair.  I’m all for a good fit, expecially in a pair of fingerless mitts.  I will be using the same stitch to make a stocking pattern as well. As well as a modified version of the stitch to make a hat.

Catch up time: Patterns.

Standard

My goal was a pattern a month.  Now it’s September and only 2 are available for download.   I need to play catch up.  Next year’s goal was 52 small patterns designed and 12 large patterns designed.   It’s very hard when we are so busy.  I have been working and general life has been a big distraction.   Lol.  I have been very busy trying to get my crafting area clean, the home office and my kitchen reorganized.   What a daunting task.   I have just wrote a new pattern for fingerless mitts.  These will be on ravelry.com for testing here soon.  So this is pattern 3.  I am hoping I can get at least the 12 up by the end of the year.

The Christmas List: the first gift shawl.

Standard

I found a great deal on some nature spun  seconds in a marvelous shade of green.  Nervous Green, at first thought they were going to be socks for myself but alas a shawl they’ll create.   Of course I was surprised at the quality of what nature spun calls a second, a few thick spots 2 in the first skein,  no knots in either,  the color in each is constant through out, and no breaks?  Now I’ll buy seconds from nature spun again in a heartbeat.

As Spring ends, Summer begins

Standard

I thought I would have more time this spring,  I have over 10 patterns to type up and get tested.  Yes I really need to get winters end up for testing that way it could start getting purchased.  I have written a pattern for something other than a hat.  My purse pattern is proving more than difficult to write.  So that one should be next.
I also do not think I will do any shows this year,  what am I going to do with all the items I make for my pattern pictures?  Why I do not really know.  I will probably put some on etsy this fall to see if etsy will be more profitable or just as slow as last year for me.  I am not good with seo ( search engine optimization ), or I would try something else.  I hope that it goes better.
Now I am hoping that I get some turkey chicks soon, I hope that I can also get some ducklings, and a few new chickens.  After last year I would like to have a few new naked neck ‘s,  a couple of new pullets ( mainly some full sized brahmas), my chicken flock is looking a little uncolored as of late.
As I said with summer approaching there is so much to do.

The Christmas List

Standard

I hope that all of you crafters at least have started your Christmas list.  Mine so far is 30 items long.  I had patterns picked out for most including one that I was fighting with that I said enough and then I designed the new fingerless mitts.

These were made with a mill end yarn.  I love the colors💖.  Then I used a great pattern to make these stockings.

And now I’m on to the next project, I hope to get that done soon.
Also I have 3 vests, several blankets, and alot more stockings to make.  Along with several different types of projects.

Yarn Stash Busting

Standard

I have decided that I need to work down the worsted weight yarn in my stash.  Alot of it is vintage, or discontinued.   I have also decided that my novelty yarn Stash is to large, but I do not know what projects to make with this this amount of eyelash and other novelties, any ideas please comment.   This way I can build my stash back up with the next level of yarns available.  And hopefully use up part of my scrap stash.  Thank you and good night.

Many things to do this year

Standard

This year is going to be busy, I hope everyone has a safe, busy, and profitable year.  Our ebay account gets a break for the summer.  It has switched to go time.  We are preparing the garden space this weekend,  2 different Easter events both on Sunday, I have a day in the office this week, and today I’m running around town for errands.  So I may get to finnish my second stocking today.

Crazy days

Standard

I’ll begin by saying that it’s been a busy couple of weeks.   Work, work, and more work it seems.  I have to say that where I have several new pattern designs written up waiting to test but alas no time here lately to do it.  And yes I know everyone is waiting to see the new designs.  I also think our ebay store is going to get a break.  I do hope to see more colors as the flowers start to bloom.  I’ll post the new designs as soon as I get them off my hooks.  As always that’s the way the color fades.

This is one of my latest scrap blankets, and yes its knitted.  I love the way it’s coming out.  Very colorful and easy.
